SHELL PENSIONERS ASSOCIATION - GREATER MANCHESTER BRANCH
The Branch is open to all members of The Shell Pensioners Association. We concentrate on members living in the Greater Manchester Area.
The Objectives of the Branch are :-
(a)To keep alive the Shell family spirit and interest in Group activities after retirement.
(b)To provide, as appropriate, a channel of communication, and to represent, if required, to the Shell Pensioners’ Association, the views of Members on pensions and associated matters of interest.
(c)To collaborate, where considered beneficial, with other organizations to further the social aims of the Branch.
We have a varied and interesting programme to cater for as many of our members as possible. We have four dances, (held at Wavell House, Wythenshawe, with secure car parking), four lunches, several day trips, at least two holidays per year and two very active walking group one which tackles difficult terrain and one which keeps to the flat.Wherever possible the Secretary will arrange lifts for those members who do not have their own transport, and members are free to bring along their partners to all events. While some events will be restricted by numbers to members and their partners, we are happy to see friends and relations of members at many of our meetings.
We welcome any suggestions from members for other activities or places of interest for day trips or holidays, and would also welcome new blood on to the Committee from anyone willing to serve.
Any members who worked at either Computer Centre, Wythenshawe for Shell Mex and BP Ltd. should visit the SMBP Reunion Website which is at our old address www.groveblue.co.uk .
There are many photographs of the time and also links to nostalgic memories from former colleagues.
